Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Support the sourcing, preparation and execution of investments in collaboration with the Head of Department and other Investment Officers;
  • Once investment opportunities are identified,
    • Liaise and coordinate with sellers, investee companies and/or other relevant stakeholders (e.g. co-investors, brokers or outside counsel) to support the management of the investment and fundraising process within agreed timelines;
    • Coordinate activities internally with relevant departments (esp. Finance, Legal, Risk);
    • Support the business planning and financial forecasting process for prospective target investee companies, and
    • Ensure timely completion of legal transaction documentation.
  • Process follow-up equity transactions or debt transactions to existing network banks;
  • Coordination with regulatory bodies and of approvals related to investment/divestment transactions;
  • Support divestment processes of entities of which exit is being pursued;
  • Coordinate refinancing transactions between third party lenders and network banks;
  • Support Management in preparation of board meetings;
  • Perform other assigned tasks related to the Department's daily business.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 2 years of work experience in similar position in the field of (micro)finance, preferably with experience in equity/debt transactions or launching start-ups;
  • Academic degree in Economics, Business or another field related to (micro)finance;
  • Strong knowledge of financial and investment concepts;
  • Experience with business planning and financial projections for microfinance institutions/banks;
  • Practical experience in financial analysis;
  • Strong Excel skills;
  • Experience in dealing with share purchase agreements or similar equity transaction documents (including deal term sheets) is a major asset;
  • Knowledge of different areas of finance and accounting is advantageous, desirably in the microfinance and/or banking sector;
  • Reliable team player with excellent (intercultural) communication and presentation skills;
  • Very strong analytical skills and high attention to detail;
  • Very good spoken and written English, further foreign language skills are an asset;
  • Ability and willingness to travel to developing and transition countries.
